About Sara Bareilles

Sara Bareilles is an American singer who was born on December 7th, 1979, in Eureka, California.

She attended the University Of California, where she part of the Awaken A Capella group. She began her musical career in 2002, after graduating from UCLA.

She started performing in bars and recorded two demos: "The Summer Session" and "The First One". In 2004 she featured in the movie "Girl Play". In the same year she released her debut album, named "Careful Confessions" and, in April 2005 she signed up with Epic Records.

In 2006 she served as the opening act for Marc Broussard on his tour "Carencro". Also, in the following year, she was the opening act for Mika and Aqualung, as well for Maroon 5, Paolo Nutini and James Blunt.

2007 came with the singer's breakthrough album and single.

Her first album, "Little Voice" was the most downloaded one in music stores and it entered at number 45 on the Billboard Hot 200. "Love Song", the first single to be released from the album, when from number 73 to number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It eventually peaked at number four. It topped various other charts and reached number four on the UK Singles after Bareilles' performance at "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno".

The album eventually reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 200 and it was certified platinum while the single received triple platinum.

In 2008, the singer released a DVD from her first tour: "Between The Lines: Sara Bareilles Live At The Fillmore".

Her second tour, "The Gravity" came in early 2009. In the same year, she began the work on her second album, "Kaleidoscope Heart", on which he collaborated with Pharrell Williams, Amir "Questlove" Thompson and Weezer.

She recorded it at the Sunset Sound Studio and at The Village Recorder, in California. The single to be released from the album, "King Of Anything" was certified platinum in the United States. She released the album on September 7th, 2010 and it debuted at number one on Billboard Hot 200, after sells of almost 100,000 in just one week. This led to her previous album to re-enter the charts as well.

In 2012, Sara Bareilles released the EP "Once Upon Another Time". After that came the album "The Blessed Unrest" which contained the single "Brave". A live album, "Brave Enough: Live At The Variety Play House" was released in 2013 and recorded in Atlanta.

Sara Bareilles has been musically influenced by artists like Billy Joel, Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple. The genres she approaches include piano rock and pop rock. She can also play the guitar, piano, harmonium and ukulele.

Among her accomplishments, she has four Grammy nominations for her songs "Brave", "Love Song", "King Of Anything" and for the album "The Blessed Unrest".
