Don't Cry For Me Argentina (Evita) by Madonna piano sheets for free

As it became very popular among the audience, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" was covered by numerous artists throughout the decades.

A notable cover was made by the pop icon Madonna, in December 1996.

It came as a result of the artist's presence in the movie with the same name.

The genre of her cover was orchestral pop and it was produced by David Caddick, Nigel Wright, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Alan Parker.

Madonna also released a dance-remix for the song which was produced by her alongside Javier Garza and Pablo Flores.

"Don't Cry for Me Argentina" received general acclaim from the music critics whom stated that it is

"easily one of Madonna's greatest vocal performances to date, the singer's dramatic interpretation of Evita's unofficial theme song was both loyal and bizarrely autobiographical".

The cover was certified gold in the United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland, France and Germany. It topped the charts in Spain and France and it was present worldwide.

"Don't Cry for Me Argentina" is a song that was especially composed for the stage musical "Evita".

It was initially recorded by Julie Covington, as part of her "Evita" album.

The song was originally released on December, 1976 with a relatively long duration of 5:27 minutes

As it appeared in the stage musical, it was sung by the main character, in the second act.

The song's title comes from an epitaph on a plaque, in the musical, on which states: "Don't cry for me Argentina, I remain quite near to you".

The track was written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber and also produced by them alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber. A similar melody appears on other songs which were featured on "Evita": "Eva's Final Broadcast" and "Oh What a Circus".

The composers came with various different titles for the songs, in fear of lack of commercial success. The titles included "It's Only Your Lover Returning" and "All Through My Crazy and Wild Days".

At the time of its initial release, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" encountered high success as it sold more than one million copies in the United Kingdom alone where it also topped the UK Singles Chart. The single was a hit in many countries and it reached number one in Norway, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Belgium and Netherlands.

The track has had big commercial success and it was certified gold in the UK.

"Don't Cry for Me Argentina" is an enduring hit, which managed to top the charts not just on its initial release, but also with Madonna's cover. This is the proof of the public continued demand for it.
