Love Theme From The Godfather by Nino Rota piano sheets for free
"Love Theme For The Godfather", also known as "Speak Softly Love" is part of the soundtrack for the 1972 movie, "The Godfather".
The song was mainly written by Nino Rota alongside Larry Kusik.
The song runs a duration of 2:41 minutes as the instrumental version.
The vocal version has been covered by numerous singers, including Andy Williams, Slash, Sergio Franchi, The Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Matt Monro, Scott Walker, Candies, Rosenberg Trio, Dominic Chianese, Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins, Irene Ryder, Aref and many others.
"Love Theme For The Godfather" was produced by Dick Glasser and it was released in April 1972.
The musical structure was influenced by Gaetano Donizetti's "Don Pasquale", an opera that featured on "Preludio - Povero Ernesto!".
Similarities can be noticed in Giuseppe Verdi's "La Forza del Destino". The lyrics have been modified depending on the language in which it was sand. For example, The French version was titled "Parle Plus Bas", the Italian one "Parla Più Piano", while the Sicilian version was named "Brucia La Terra".
Nino Rota was a famous Italian pianist, composer and academic. Throughout his prolific career, the composer wrote over 150 movie scores, notably for Lachine Visconti, Federico Fellini, Eduardo De Filipe and, of course, for Francis Ford Coppola's trilogy. As Fellini described him and their collaboration:
"The most precious collaborator I have ever had, I say it straightaway and don't even have to hesitate, was Nino Rota — between us, immediately, a complete, total, harmony ... He had a geometric imagination, a musical approach worthy of celestial spheres".
Many of his scores were included by The American Film Institute on the list of greatest film scores. His greatest achievement was "Love Theme For The Godfather", which was ranked fifth.
The movie itself is one of the greatest successes in the movie industry. With stars like Al Pacino and Marlon Brando, the masterpiece is preserved by the United States National Film Registry. The film won three Academy Awards: for "Best Adapted Screenplay", "Best Picture" and "Best Actor".
The theme for "The Godfather Part II", which was the same piece as for the first part won an Academy Award for "Best original Score", in 1974.
"Love Theme For The Godfather" is one of the immortal movie scores in history, and its enduring impact can be seen even decades later, as references or covers are still made at the public's constant demand for the musical theme.
