About Paolo Nutini

Paolo Giovanni Nutini was born on January 9, 1987 in Scotland. He has both Italian and Scotish roots and was encouraged into singing by his grandfather and  a teacher at his school, St Andrews Academy, who saw his talent. Soon after, he left school and got small jobs such as selling T-shirts or work as a roadie. Throughout the following three years he perfected his music skills by performing live and learning the music industry.

During a stage performance Nutini was noted by Brendan Moon , his future manager, who was in audience at the time. Following his departure to London , he performed regularly at The Bedford pub in Balham and two live acoustic spots on Radio London and The Hard Rock Cafe.

One of Paolo Nutini's trademarks is singing with eyes shut during the whole performance. During an interview, he made a controversial statement saying that he's smoked marijuana everyday, since the age of sixteen.

Nutini signed with Atlantic Records in 2005 and released his first single : "These Streets", which was followed by "Last Request" and "Jenny Don't be Hasty". Many of the songs from this album were inspired by his own experiences with an older woman.

The year 2006 was a successful one for Paolo since he's had various sold-out concerts in Britain and performed at many venues worldwide such as  a TV appearance on Later with Jools Holland, Carnegie Hall in New York, The Montreux Jazz Festival, The Wireless Festival, Oxegen and T in the Park.

His second studio album , "Sunny Side Up" was released in 2009 and received a mixed critical reception with reviews going from "not bad" to " joyous second album organically blends soul, country, folk and the brash". In 2010 it topped the UK Album Charts once again which  made the album the first Number one album in the United Kingdom of 2010 and the decade.

Paolo Nutini's most recent album was named "Caustic Love" and he released in April, 2014. The first single "Scream (Funk My Life Up)"  appeared in January, 2014 receiving mostly positive reviews from critics.

His songs were inserted in many American TV shows proving his popularity: "Last Request" at the end of the Scrubs episode "My Words of Wisdom", Season 6, the first episode of Gavin & Stacey and the One Tree Hill Season, 4th episode, titled "The Birth and Death of the Day." "Million Faces" is in Grey's Anatomy episode "Testing 1–2–3" from Season 3. "Rewind" is played at the end of CSI: Miami Season-5 episode "Broken Home." "Jenny, Don't Be Hasty" was also featured on another member of the CSI franchise when it played on CSI: NY's Season-3-finale, "Snow Day". "New Shoes" featured in The Jane Austen Book Club and in a TV ad for Puma AG during summer 2008.

Though a young figure, Paolo Nutini has gained a lot of popularity which can only make us wonder what will be next from this promising young artist.
