About David Arnold
David Arnold is the name of a British composer that has made a name for himself by scoring big movies such as "Stargate" in 1994, "Independence Day" in 1996, "Godzilla" in 1998 and a number of 5 "James Bond" films.
For "Independence Day" he managed to win the Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television award at the Grammy Awards.
Arnold has also worked in television, for the "Little Brain" series, as well the "Sherlock" ones. For the second one, he also received a Creative Arts Emmy award. He has become a member of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
Originating from Luton, Bedfordshire, he went to a Sixth Form College, where he met Danny Cannon, a director. He has started his venture into the film industry by helping Danny Cannon with the music for his short films. Together, they became known in the major works with music for "The Young Americans". Arnold followed on his debut with musical scores for "Stargate", as well as for "Last of the Dogmen". Meeting Roland Emmerich, the director for Stargate, he worked with him for two of his movies, namely "Godzilla" and "Independence Day". In that period, he also collaborated with director John Singleton.
David Arnold is also known for working on many dramas and comedies, as well as English TV shows such as "Little Britain" or "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)". The producers of "Little Britain" have remembered him and, in 2010, they asked him to work together with them for TV series "Come Fly With Me", for which Arnold provided scores.
Having become a member of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, he was also given a honorary degree from the University of West London. Since his honorary degree, he worked with the University, especially getting himself involved in the London College of Music. In July 2014 he debuted with an orchestral concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
In 2015 he went on a tour consisting in 6 orchestral concerts, visiting Dublin, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Nottingham.
David Arnold has started his work on the James Bond movies with "Tomorrow Never Dies" and he did such a great job that he has been hired for other 4 James Bond films. These films that Arnold score were, in order: "The World Is Not Enough", "Die Another Day", "Casino Royale", "Quantum of Solace".
During his career, David Arnold also worked together with musical acts like Kaiser Chiefs, Cast, Pulp, Massive Attack, as well as Bjork, Natasha Bedingfield, Mark Morriss, Shiley Bassey and a few others. He is known as the winner of 2 Ivor Novello Awards, one of them for "The World Is Not Enough".
