"Old Time Rock and Roll" is the title of a song by rock musician Bob Seger, which was used on the album titled "Stranger in Town".

The writing crew included Seger, but the main writer was George Jackson, aided by Thomas E. Jones. The producer was Seger himself, taking place in the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. The recording also took place in Detroit, at the Sound Suite Studios.
"Old Time Rock and Roll" is meant to be a flashback of the rock ‘n’ roll period, becoming a very popular song. It was ultimately placed second on the Top 40 Jukebox Singles in the year 1996. The history of the song was that a demo was sent to Seger by The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. He decided to modify the version that he received, even the lyrics, yet he was left uncredited as contributing to the writing. Because of the lack of credit, the song was used in an advertisement video for Hardee.
Once the band started touring in Europe and seeing that the audience loved the song, they accepted it, even if initially most of them didn’t agree with that style.
In 1983, "Old Time Rock and Roll" was used in a movie starring Tom Cruise, one called "Risky Business". The scene in which Cruise is shown as singing the song is called a classic for the cinema industry. The song was also used in "Garfield: The Movie", "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and several advertisements for multiple "Guitar Hero" video games.
This rock single was also featured in several TV shows, such as "The Nanny", "Growing Pains", "ALF", "Scrubs", "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" or "South Park". It was also used in the show "Glee".
