About Anne Murray
Anne Murray, on her birth name Morna Anne Murray, is a Canadian singer specializing in the pop and country genres, also playing guitar and having influences from soft rock or adult contemporary music. Studying piano in her early years, she started taking vocal lessons around the age of 15 and in 1965, when she was around 20, she sang two songs for a student project record called "The Groove", on the University of New Brunswick. The two songs were called "Unchained Melody" and "Little Bit of Soap".
She got cast two years later for the show "Singalong Jubilee", which got her to sing an entire summer for local shows. After a break of an entire year, she returned to the show and, at the advice of musical director Brian Ahern, she moved to Toronto to record a solo album, which she did. Released on the Arc label, her first album was named "What About Me", produced by Ahern in 1968.
