Don't Stop Believin by Journey piano sheets for free
"Don't Stop Believin'" was released on October 6th, 1981 and it's a song from the American rock band, Journey.
It was written by Jonathan Cain, Steve Perry and Neal Schon and it was produced by Kevin Elson and Mike Stone. The writers and producers used a very special technique so that the chorus of the song can only be heard at the end of the song.
This is a major change in song's usual structure.
Another unusual thing about it is the mention in the song's lyrics of a place named "South Detroit" that does not exist.
The whole song uses the key E major and the chords, played by a piano, progress to a length of eight chords.
"Don't Stop Believin'" was initially released on 7" vinyl and later, as digital download. After featuring in the HBO series, "The Sopranos-Made In America", in 2007, the song gained very much popularity among the public and the media. This resulted in the increase of the digital downloads.
The song also features on the Broadway show, "Rock Of Angels", as the ending act, in the TV show "Family Guy" and it has been played at Detroit Red Wings hockey games. Although "South Detroit" is non-existent, "Don't Stop Believin'" is used at various Detroit sport events.
The single was a big commercial hit and it reached many important charts: it peaked at number eight on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, it was placed nine on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
The single was the most downloaded one from the other songs that were not released in the 21st century, among iTunes Music Store; it was placed at number 72 in the list of the most downloaded songs of the year 2008.
The success continued in the following year as well, with "Don't Stop Believin" reaching 84 in the previous top.
The song is one of the biggest hits in rock industry. It was named the best song coming from a pre-digital era to top the digital downloads and it's the second best-selling rock song. It has sold more than 6 million digital copies, in the United States alone. Its popularity has known no boundaries and it conquered the charts worldwide: number four in Ireland, number two in Canada, number 25 in Sweden and number 50 in the Dutch charts.
Due to its enormous commercial success, "Don't Stop Believin'" has had many covers made, throughout the time, by artists such as: Joe McElderry, Alvin and The Chipmunks and many others. Another cover was made for the American TV series, "Glee" and it also turned into a hit.
The single reached number four on Billboard's Hot 100 and was certified platinum by the RIAA. Three decades after its initial release, "Don't Stop Believin'" remains a masterpiece for the rock genre and a delight to the audience, regardless of the generation.
