When I'm 64 by The Beatles piano sheets for free
"When I’m Sixty-Four" is the title of a song by rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney alongside John Lennon. The song has been featured on their 1967 album titled "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band". A great pop love song, "When I’m Sixty-Four" has been written by McCartney at the age of sixteen.
Initially a deluxe song that was played only on special occasions, "When I’m Sixty-Four" has been in their repertoire for many years before being officially released, Lennon admitting that the song was already composed by McCartney, they just added some changes to the verses. Lennon even admitted and credited the song fully to McCartney, saying in an interview that "I would never dream of writing a song like that".
Using a clarinet trio in a classical way, the song also features support from the piano, as well as bass, a drum set, an electric guitar and even tubular bells. McCartney’s voice sounded younger on the track, due to the clarinets and the harmonization between the backing vocals by Lennon and George Harrison.
"When I’m Sixty-Four" has been intended to be released as a single on "Penny Lane" or "Strawberry Fields Forever", but it was instead directed towards the new album. With Ringo Starr on the drums and chimes and the clarinet trio by Frank Reidy, Robert Burns and Henry MacKenzie, the song has become a very appreciated pop song throughout the world.
Proof of the song’s popularity are the numerous covers existing, including some by the following: Kenny Ball, Georgie Fame, John Denver, Keith Moon, Julian Lloyd Webber, Cherie Blair, Ayreon, Jonathan Coulton, Nana Moon, Les Fradkin, The Rutles, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Barry Gibb.
