"A Hard Day's Night" is a single from the English band The Beatles. The song was written by John Lennon and it was credited to Lennon-McCartney.
He had the idea for the title from Ringo Starr, whom after working for a whole day and night stated that "It's been a long day", but after noticing it was dark, he added "...night".
This led to the words connection "A Hard Day's Night". After his statement, a producer, Dick Lester, came with the idea for a movie with this title, a movie which would serve as an inspiration for the song's lyrical composition.
John Lennon wrote the song in just one night. He later stated that it was Paul McCartney who performed the vocals simply because he wasn't able to reach the notes.
The band recorded the track at the Abbey Road Studios, in London, on April 16th, 1964. It required less than three hours to complete the production and decide on the ninth take as the final result.
