"I Saw Her Standing There" is a part of The Beatles’ debut album "Please Please Me" that was released in the United Kingdom, in 1963.
It’s the opening track and was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
The song was recorded in the EMI Studios, in London, February 1963.
"I saw her standing there" was released in the United States, in December the same year, as the B-Side of another song, "I Want To Hold Your Hand"
It entered the Billboard Hot 100 and remained there for eleven weeks. It was ranked at number 139 on the Rolling Stones' list of 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The initial idea of the song belonged to Paul McCartney, who had it by driving home from a Beatles concert. He conceived it as a modern approach of the traditional song "As I Roved Out". He made changes for it on an acoustic guitar and originally named it "Seventeen". However, he finalized it with John Lennon, a month later.
The lyrics were written while strumming guitars and reading an exercise book.

The song was originally recorded in a slower version, at the end of 1962 and Lennon played harmonica during the verses and at the beginning. It was part of a marathon recording session of 10 tracks.
The producer, George Martin, decided to keep the count-in by Paul McCartney in order to create the effect of a live performance.

Another version of the song was released by Tiffany on her debut album and changed the name to "I Saw Him Standing There". The video consisted of a live performance from her in front of thousands of fans and it received a lot of play from MTV.
Another version was recorded by Paul McCartney, in 1974, with Elton John. It’s available on the box sets "To Be Continued…" and "Lennon". McCartney also included it his live albums "Tripping The Live Fantastic", in 1990, "Back in the US", in 2002, and "Back in The World", in 2003.
